Every Friday at 3 pm, the philosophy club meets on the fourth floor of the Henderson Humanities Building. We discuss a philosophical question, puzzle, or topic. Here are some questions we’ve recently discussed.
Should we fear death?
Should you plug into the experience machine?
Should we be vegans? Vegetarians? Conscientious Carnivores?
If you are a member of another club, consider joining forces with us for a meeting! We have put on joint events with the Pre-Med club (on ethical issues in medicine) and the Entrepreneurship club (on ethical issues in advertising).

I’m often asked why one should study philosophy. Here’s one answer. (But there are lots of reasons!)
In his commentary on Aristotle’s Metaphysics, Thomas Aquinas says that “What the poet and the philosopher have in common is this: both are concerned with the marvelous.”
If you study philosophy, you will develops habits of careful attention, contemplation, and a sort of obedience to the truth. These things are worth having because, by them, we encounter and enjoy a world that is marvelous.
